Beyonce Knowles was born in Houston, Texas in 1981. She began pursuing music after performing at her school talent show when she was 7 years old. Her parents enrolled her in a well known music school, and she sang for the choir at that school as well as for her church.

At 8 years old, she and her friend Kelly Rowland met LaTavia Roberson, and all three were put in a group called Girls Tyme with 3 other girls. They toured Houston on a talent show circuit before being discovered by producer, Arne Frager. Frager saw potential, so he pulled some strings and got them on Star Search, which was a total flop, but, they persevered, and after cutting 2 girls from the group they eventually landed a recording contract with Columbia Records.

They changed their name to Destiny’s Child, and dropped their debut album in 1997. It was a huge success, and they continued to drop album after album with more and more success. However, the group had some disagreements, and certain members got dropped and replaced. Around this time Beyonce went through a bout of depression after her boyfriend left her (wtf) and she was blamed for the groups problems. While they still enjoyed success, Destiny’s Child began to splinter, and the remaining members started
working more on their solo careers.

Beyonce had a decent career as an actress going before releasing her first solo album. Her debut included the song Crazy In Love, which catapulted her into the spotlight. By the mid-2000’s Beyonce Knowles had become Beyonce. In 2008, she dropped one of the best videos of all time, and solidified herself as one of the most important pop icons of the decade. Oh yeah, she also married Jay-Z.

Her superstardom continued to grow in 2011 with hits like Run the World and Love On Top, and two years later, she gave a superbowl halftime performance that was deemed one of the most controversial halftime shows of all time.

Her 2016 album, Lemonade, broke streaming records, even though for 3 years it was only available on a streaming service that absolutely nobody uses, and her headline Coachella performance in 2018 was so incredible that they made a documentary about it.
