In a recent paper published in Nature in September, a research team presented the most compelling evidence to date that it's not just neurons that are capable of signaling. They collected data over an extensive 8-year period, their genetic analysis suggested that these cells possess the necessary machinery to utilize glutamate in a manner similar to neurons.
