There’s no easy component in building frontier AI products.

Harvey’s Head of Applied Research, Niko Grupen says the difficulty of an AI problem can be framed by asking tough questions:

How much domain expertise is required? How verifiable are the outcomes? How much does it rely on manual processes or collective knowledge?

But that’s only one part. Infrastructure, integrations, security, privacy, UX, and design all matter too.

Building at the application layer means solving the whole problem and mastering each component to deliver a valuable product to your customers.
