Is public-service television meaningful? | Zuzana Kovačič Hanzelová | TEDxUniverzitaKomenského
The history of Slovak public-service television is not very nice. How did we get to the point that people are not sensitive to political influence in public-service media? Why is it important to keep government's hands off RTVS (Slovak public-service television and broadcast)? TV has walked a long path through Mečiars´ violent influence until inconspicuous political propaganda. Nowadays propaganda is not so obvious as it used to be. That’s why it´s so difficult to show it to people. She was working for RTVS for 7 years. Last year she and a few other colleagues decided to leave because of political pressure that appeared with the new CEO. Now she works for SME magazine since October 2018 and makes video interviews and podcasts. On long terms she mainly discusses two topics - domestic policy and poverty and social exclusion. She is 31 years old and lives in Bratislava with her husband, journalist Michal Kovačič. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
