It's time for another edition of our show the Hit Song Redux where we travel back to a week in the golden era of the rock and roll and recalibrate the top 10 songs of THAT SPECIFIC week based on their legacy since THEIR PEAK POSITION ON THE BILLBOARD HOT 100. including your stories and dedications. It's a tip of the hat to my hero Casey Kasem… this time we travel back to OCTOBER OF 1983

Coming in at #10 Sly Stallone's younger brother Frank Stallone with a song from the movie Staying Alive, the sequel to Saturday Night Fever with the song Far From Over. This song was actually nominated for a Golden Globe award. In at #9 It's Islands in the Stream which would end up being a #1 Hit. At the #8 slot, the second straight #1 song from the Don Simpson/Jerry Bruckheimer blockbuster Flash dance. Maniac by Michael Sembello. In 1983 Michael Sembello said, "It's a funny irony that Maniac caught on. And coming in at #7 A song that had become much greater than it's chart position years later, in fact it's become a modern day standard from the new romantic band, Spandau Ballet with True. At the #6 position a legendary Trio from England who was arguably the biggest band in the world in 1983… the Police with heart wrenching hit King of Pain. So at #5, a band that I feel is vastly under appreciated in the annals of rock, with a throwback sound that energized radio, I'm talking about Stray Cats with She's Sexy +17. I've actually interviewed Brian Setzer and it was awesome, someday we hope that will see the light of day. In at #4 a dazzling dramatic love song from the late great Jim Steinman, who wrote all of Meat Loaf's hits. It's Making Love out of Nothing at All. In at #3 Safety Dance by Men Without Hats. Coming in at #2 one of my favorite artists who has had 33 top 40 hits. It's Billy Joel with Tell Her About it. Comint in at #1 It's Bonnie Tyler with total Eclipse of the Heart.
