APMC mandis or open market? What is the farmers’ verdict? | Times Now i-Report

DATA FROM THE AGMARKNET PORTAL and its shows that in the period immediately after the farm ordinance were brought in, between June 6-August 31…mandi arrivals of crops dropped dramatically. The fall was up to 49% for fruits, 57% for vegetables, and 45% for grains
In 3 months after the farm ordinances, the arrival of paddy in APMC mandis went down by 19.5%. That of wheat went down by 22.3%. . That of vegetables like onion went down by 56.9%. What does this mean? Where are these farmers going? It means that when given a CHOICE….these farmers decided to explore the open market, and seek the market prices there.
Now, the protesting farmers are being told that APMC mandis are the only safe places for them to sell, and they will be looted in the open market.
So then tell me, if a farmer was getting a bad price. If he was being robbed in the open market, why did 40.8 percent of urad dal farmers suddenly say lets sell outside the mandi as compared to the same period last year? Why did 19.5% of paddy farmers say lets see what price the trader will give me? The farmer had a CHOICE, and these farmers CHOSE to sell in the open market. Why? Maybe because its more beneficial for them? Think about that...
