3 1/2 Things I Play When I First Pick Up My Acoustic Guitar

Have you ever really sat down and analyzed your playing from the first moment you pick up your guitar? Recently I realized that I play nearly the same 2 or 3 things every time I pick up my Martin DCX1E. I also realized why I tend to gravitate toward these licks: in order to warm up my fretting hand and picking hand as well as to get them coordinated and working together in sync.
Why the "1/2"? As you'll see later in the video, I "kind of" go over another great lick for alternate picking, but I didn't really spend too much time on it, so I consider this only halfway covered :)
These "3 1/2" things are some of the best licks that I feel encompass a majority of the techniques I—along with many other Bluegrass Guitar professionals—need in order to perform most of the songs, solos, and licks we need to play on a regular basis. They encompass such techniques as:
* Slides
* Hammer-ons
* Pull-offs (including the infamous "1st fret pull-off")
* Trills
* Fast picking
* Alternate picking
* G-runs
* Open String Transitions
Think of this as sort of a "primer " to the even more exhaustive and in-depth coverage I include on my upcoming course found at http://www.BluegrassGuitarEssentials.com
