Zoom LiveTrak L-20: Overdubbing

Hi this is John from Zoom and I am here to show you how to use the overdubbing feature on the LiveTrak L‑20.

To summarize, overdubbing is the act of recording additional audio on an existing recording. The L-20 gives you the ability to overdub using all 20 available tracks.

For this example we will be recording a rhythm guitar part then overdubbing a lead melody.

First let us start by creating a new project. Press the Menu button and scroll to select Project. Select New Project select Yes. Press the menu button twice to return to the home screen.

Record enable track 1 by pressing the Rec/Play button. This is indicated by a red light. Press the record button and then the play button to begin recording. Once your recording is done press the Stop button.

To begin overdubbing press the Overdub button. If this button is not pressed the L-20 will automatically create a new project when you begin recording.

Press the Rec/Play button on Track 1 until it is lit green. This indicates that the track will be played back when you are recording your overdub.

Record enable track 2 and begin recording your overdub. Once you finish the recording you can play back the project to hear both parts. You can continue this process for the remaining tracks as well.

If you wish to create a mix down of your project, record enable the master track with tracks 1 and 2 in playback mode, indicated by the green light on these channels. A stereo file of the master track will be saved.
