Synaptic transmission and neurotransmitters
This neurone physiology lecture explains about the synaptic transmission and the role of neurotransmitters in synaptic transmission. It includes the structure of neuron junction or synapse. There are two types of neurotransmitters. One is excitatory neurotransmitter such as acetyl choline and inhibitory neurotransmitter such as GABA and glycine. Understanding the synaptic transmission is important to understand how the nerve impulse is transfered across the neurons in our body and brain. It will also help you to understand how the neurotoxins work to destabilize the work of the neurotransmitters.
