This is a snippet from a long form video that walks through various indexing strategies within an indexed universal life insurance (IUL) policy. In this case, we are looking at an Allianz IUL. There can be many advantages for an IUL over direct market investments. We fully support market investments and we personally fund 401k, Roth, and regular brokerage accounts, but we look at our life insurance as a foundation for wealth.

The concept of using permanent life insurance to build wealth has been around for over a century. Walt Disney borrowed against his life insurance to fund Disneyland. The Rockefeller family wealth has lasted generations because of life insurance.

A man named Nelson Nash popularized the concept with a book called "Becoming Your Own Banker". It is a good read but it was written in an era where Whole Life Dividend rates were much higher. If you want to read a more modern take about the topic, I actually prefer a book by Garrett Gunderson called "What Would the Rockefellers Do?" Many people call this the Infinite Banking Concept, Bank on Yourself, Be Your Own Bank, Cash Flow Banking, or many other names. We believe that Net Wealth Finance more accurately describes the concept.
