1. Order Mouthpieces Online
Only if they have a good return policy. This way you can test the mouthpieces out at home and take your time. Order a few at a time if you would like to compare.

2. Use A Mouthpiece Patch when testing
I always use a mouthpiece patch because I prefer the feel. Definitely put one on before you start testing new mouthpieces.

3. Test mouthpieces at home where you practice.
This way you aren't thrown off by the sound of an unfamiliar room.

4. Take a mouthpiece on a gig or rehearsal to see how it works in a real situation.

5. Use New Reeds to test.
Old reeds from your other mouthpiece won't give you an honest assessment. Also try different brands and strengths.

6. Don't compare more than 3 different mouthpieces at once.
Too much information just becomes confusing.

7. Take notes or record yourself while testing.
This will help you make your decision.

8. Try a mouthpiece for a few days or even weeks.
Sometimes it takes a while to know for sure.

9. Don't listen to marketing hype.
Buy what feels and works best for you.
