PYROPHORIC iron self-ignites in the air

Pyrophoric iron was prepared through thermal decomposition of iron(II)oxalate-Fe(COO)2*2H2O. We tested three different methods, but best results were obtained when pure oxygen was blown into the pyrophoric iron filled test tube.
