Coronavirus outbreak: Brazil cemetery is a grim reminder of a country in the grips of a pandemic

Fresh graves were on the ready at a massive cemetery in Brazil's largest city of Sao Paulo on Friday, as the global epicentre for COVID-19 shifts to Brazil.

Sao Paulo's Formosa Cemetery has emerged as a grim visual reminder of how the pandemic has hit Brazil, with express funerals taking place at this site and families passing through to mourn the dead while another group waits behind.

According to data from the Health Ministry, Sao Paulo remains the worst hit by the outbreak, with over 63,000 cases and some 5,000 deaths.

With the country's southern region heading into winter, officials are concerned that winter could further worsen infection rates.
