3. Home Vision Therapy Eye Exercises to Strengthen Your Vision - Convergence - Red-Green Circles

👁 This Convergence Exercise Tutorial will teach you how to train your eyes' converging (turning inward) ability. This exercise will strengthen the capacity of your eyes and brain to point your eyes simultaneously at a very near object in order to improve your ability to do sustained close work with comfort. People who are unable to do this easily are diagnosed as having Convergence Insufficiency.

👁 What materials are needed and where can you get them?
• Red-Green Circles Card

👁What is the purpose of this exercise, what binocular vision dysfunctions can be treated with this exercise, and what important visual skills will this exercise improve for you?
- Repeated accurate performance of this exercise can
• Central & Peripheral Fusion - improve your brain's ability to obtain stereo (3D) vision by joining the two separate images perceived by each eye from the central and peripheral visual field. People with Fusional Dysfunctions have difficulties with depth perception.
• Convergence - improve your ability to turn your eyes inward when changing focus from a distant object to a near object. People with Convergence Insufficiency have difficulty keeping their eyes aligned when they're doing near work.
• Voluntary Convergence - improve your ability to turn your eyes inward without the aid of a fixation stimulus.
• Fusional Convergence - improve the component of convergence induced by a fusional stimuli.

👁What category of vision therapy exercise is this and how can it be modified?
• MFBF (Monocular Fixation in a Binocular Field) - Category of vision therapy exercises where one eye fixates on a central field of vision while the other eye pays attention to the peripheral field of vision. Red-Green glasses can be used to train both eyes.
• Monocular - Category of vision therapy exercises where procedures are done with one eye patched or covered. Red-Green glasses will not be needed for this exercise. Simply cover one eye and follow the instructions.
• Bi-Ocular - Category of vision therapy exercises where procedures are done with both eyes open. Each eye simultaneously sees a target under un-fused situation and the focus is alternately shifted between the targets. Vertical prism or Septum can be used to train both eyes.
👉 Binocular - Category of vision therapy exercises where procedures are done with both eyes open. Red-Green glasses and Red and Green cover sheets will not be needed for this exercise. Simply, perform the procedures with both eyes open.
