The Biden administration could see the ‘biggest election loss’ at 2022 midterms
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy says the Republicans victory in Virginia is a “wake up call for Washington” and the 2022 midterm elections could be one of the “biggest losses” for the Democrats.
On Tuesday, Virginia swung red for the first time since 2009 when candidate Glenn Youngkin successfully beat Democrat Terry McAuliffe in the state’s gubernatorial election.
It was considered a bellwether race heading into the 2022 midterm elections and will have major ramifications for Joe Biden’s presidency.
“[It’s a] wake-up call for Washington to abandon the partisanship, the extremist agenda of Washington-based program that costs trillions of dollars,” he said.
He told the press the Biden administration needs to abandon its social policies or risk one of the “biggest election losses for Democrats” ahead of the 2022 midterm election.
Mr McCarthy believes Democrats could lose as many seats as they did back in 2010 when Nancy Pelosi lost her speakership after the Republican Party won a majority in the House of Representatives.
“If you’re a Democrat and President Biden won your seat by 16 points, you’re in a competitive race next year. You are no longer safe,” he said.
“It’ll be more than 70 [Democratic seats] that will be competitive.
“There’s many that are going to lose their races based upon walking off a cliff from Nancy Pelosi pushing them.
“She may not care if she loses. She lost 63 the last time she was Speaker moving policy that the country didn’t care for.”
