Binning X48 LGA775 Motherboards (ASUS P5E3 Premium + Rampage Extreme)

Going through briefly the steps I do to test and speed bin these X48 motherboards. The biggest variable that can be tested on air or water cooling is the memory controller quality (MCH). In order to be capable of record scores with CPU on LN2, the motherboard's NB has to be able to run DDR3 memories at high frequencies with tight timings with varying FSB frequencies, and to be able to run all of the available North Bridge straps. Maximum FSB and memory controller quality at high FSB is also very important, but that can not be tested fully with CPU just on air cooling.

Not all X48 boards can even run all of the available straps and that already is a great downside. The highest performing Performance Levels are possible only with 200MHz and 266MHz straps. It is very important to check that the X48 board you wish to use on LN2 can run all of the available straps, and that can it run PL5 or 6 at high enough frequency, like 2100MHz+.

On the video I show all of the steps and the settings I use + some of my own tips for reaching high speeds on this platform. There is also a big surprise regarding to the Rampage Extreme I bought from Japan, which I also tested for this video.
