EU's Backup Plan for Ukraine: Alternative Aid Package

The European Union is preparing an alternative aid package for Ukraine. This is in case Brussels does not approve the four-year 50bn-euro support programme for Kyiv at the summit on February 1st. This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Against the background of Russian shelling of Ukrainian territory, she stressed that the EU urgently needs to stabilise financial aid to Ukraine.
