(See also THE YUSUPOV PALACE http://youtu.be/x6AgPa4OYDQ) Where St Petersburg was founded on 27 May 1703. In its time it was a fort that never fought and a prison for political dissidents. Today it is today best-known as the burial place of the Imperial family - the Romanovs, including the tragic last Tsar Nicholas II. On 3 June 2010 the last Romanov born before the Revolution was laid to rest in the grounds of the cathedral. (4 June 2010)
