Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul - St Petersburg Russia

The Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul is the oldest landmark in St Petersburg Russia, built shortly after the city was founded in the early Eighteenth Century. It is located close to the Neva River inside the Peter and Paul Fortress. It has the tallest Orthodox Church bell tower in the world and houses the tombs of most of the Russian emperors and empresses. It was built under Peter the Great. We visited it during a two-day excursion as part of a cruise ship visit, and were amazed by the beautiful gold decoration inside the Cathedral. A stunning building and well worth visiting.
