At the young age of 36, ABC7/WJLA-TV news reporter/anchor Jennifer Donelan suffered a heart attack at the end of a busy work day in the Fall of 2010. Donelan had a spontaneous coronary artery dissection, or SCAD, a relatively rare and poorly understood acute coronary event that typically affects young, healthy women like Donelan.
She was rushed to MedStar Washington Hospital Center and was treated by interventional cardiologist William O. Suddath, MD.
Donelan is a passionate advocate for heart health. She uses her visibility as a reporter to share her personal story, in an effort to help women understand the risk factors and prevention for heart disease.
