Making a Robust Machined Eye Mechanism with 3D Printing and Arduino
Here's an animatronic eye mechanism I made using machining tools like a lathe, as well as 3D printing and arduino. Although I'm sure a lot of you guys don't have acess to a lathe, I hope you'll still enjoy watching the build process!

Electronics:
Arduino Uno: https://amzn.to/38PuH3p (or anything that can accept three analogue signals, one digital and communicate through SDA/SCL ports)
Adafruit PCA9685 16-Channel Servo Driver: https://amzn.to/36MSsro
5V Power Supply, around 4A is more than enough. Here is mine (http://tiny.cc/is4cdz)
A female DC power jack to match your power supply, to be soldered to the servo driver board
2-axis Joystick: https://amzn.to/2Pt7uN2
Potentiometer (optional): https://amzn.to/2YUyU1g
Push-to-make switch (Some joysticks have this built in, but its easier to control when its seperate: https://amzn.to/38Q26Lp)
10k Resistor: https://amzn.to/2EpS1XB
Jumper cables: https://amzn.to/2szkIPd
6* S05NF servos: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/14760
Hobby Components:
4* M2 Servo Ball-links: https://amzn.to/2M6Pg1Q
2* 2mm Pushrod Connector Linkages: https://amzn.to/2M3brpy (Not strictly necessary, you could use 2 ball links instead)
Machining Stuff - Check the schematics in the machining step to see all the components which need machining, it also has a rough guide to the lengths of stock you could start with. You might want some margin for errors, but roughly speaking you'll need:
140mm of 3mm diameter brass rod (plus an additional 100mm if you want to try bending the 3mm brass to make the x-axis pushrod - I'd recommend you don't as its very difficult to do accurately)
50mm of 5mm diameter brass rod
170mm of 4mm diameter aluminium rod
120mm of 3mm diameter aluminium rod
100mm of 2mm brass rod (or a bike spoke as I did!) if not making the 3mm x-axis pushrodDownloads:
