A Banksy May Sell for Millions as Artist's Identity Reveal Looms
A 2005 painting by the elusive street artist Banksy is up for auction, and is expected to go for over $6 million. “Show Me the Monet” is an irreverent take on the work of French Impressionist Claude Monet. Alex Branczik of Sotheby’s said, “This is a moment when the artist who previously used the streets as his canvas starts taking those celebrated masterpieces of our history and making those same witty, playful incursions into the hallowed territory of the great canon of art history."
