《紅色娘子軍》是由同名電影改編而成的革命現代芭蕾舞劇。 1964年由中國國家芭蕾舞團首演成功，芭蕾舞劇《紅色娘子軍》是在周恩來總理等中央領導的直接關注下誕生的。

《紅色娘子軍》將西方芭蕾的技巧與中國民族舞蹈的表現手法相結合，在芭蕾藝術領域融合了中西文化。 《紅色娘子軍》中的音樂有《娘子軍連歌》、《万泉河水清又清》等。

故事發生在二十世紀三十年代的中國海南島。以中國革命歷史為背景依托，舞劇講述了從惡霸南霸天府中逃出來的丫鬟瓊花，在紅軍黨代表洪常青的幫助下，從一名苦大仇深的農村姑娘，逐漸轉變成一名有著堅定的共產主義信念的娘子軍戰士的過程。

The Red Detachment of Women (紅色娘子軍; Hóngsè niángzǐjūn) is a Chinese ballet that premiered in 1964. It is considered one of the eight model operas that dominated the national stage during the Cultural Revolution.

It combines the techniques of Western ballet with the expression of Chinese folk dance, blending Chinese and Western culture in the field of ballet art.

The story takes place in China’s Hainan Island in the 1930s. The musical recalls the tale Qionghua, a maid who escaped from the employ of the brutal landlord Nanbatian. With the aid of Hong Changqing, a Red Army soldier, she stands up for herself and gradually transforms from a vulnerable damsel to an empowered warrior for communism.
