Apollo To Artemis II: Countdown Begins For NASA To Go To The Moon After 53 Years

For the first time in over five decades, NASA is sending a crew back to the lunar vicinity with the Artemis II mission. This historic flight serves as the first crewed test for both the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and the Orion capsule, representing the first human journey beyond low-Earth orbit since the conclusion of Apollo 17 in 1972. The countdown took place at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center, and aims to depart on April 1, 2026. The 10-day mission will see four astronauts perform a lunar flyby before returning safely to Earth.
