A Life Undaunted: Senator Lee Metcalf's Life and Work, 1911--1978
Lee Metcalf served as Montana's U.S. Senator from 1961 to 1978. His little-documented role in some of the mid-20th century's most significant liberal and social legislation is examined in this presentation by MHS photograph archivist Matthew Peek. Peek shares rare family and political photographs of Metcalf's life--as football player, lawyer, assistant state attorney general, state Supreme Court justice, U.S. military government prosecutor in Germany during WWII, U.S. Representative, and U.S. Senator--from MHS's newly processed Metcalf photograph collection.
