American Bandstand – December 18, 1965 – FULL EPISODE
It is 1 week until Christmas, 1965. “A Charlie Brown Christmas” aired for the first time 9 days ago on Dec. 9 on CBS, “Thunderball” will be released in 4 days on Dec. 22 and the top songs on the Billboard Hot 100 today are:
1) Turn! Turn! Turn! – The Byrds
2) Over and Over - The Dave Clark Five
3) I Got You (I Feel Good) – James Brown & the Famous Flames
4) Let’s Hang On – The Four Seasons
5) I Hear A Symphony – The Supremes
9) Fever - The McCoys
11) Hang On Sloopy – The Ramsey Lewis Trio
18) Sunday and Me – Jay and the Americans
30) You Didn’t Have To Be So Nice – The Lovin’ Spoonful
35) Apple of My Eye – Roy Head and the Traits
38) The Duck – Jackie Lee
One quick correction: Sue Phillips was Sue Hipple back in 1965. Thank you for the correction Sue!
Extra Credit - For those who actually read these descriptions and want something to work on over the holiday. Find the connection in this video to the following:
1) The JFK assassination, 2) “Splish Splash”, 3) “Rock Around the Clock”, 4) “The Polar Express”, 5) “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”, 6) “The fifth Beatle” (there are 2 of them), and 7) Neil Diamond. Post them all correctly and win a new magnificent Magnavox color TV!…..or a Hoover blender…or probably nothing at all 😊
Coming Up in 2020: I have “a few” dozen more videos that I look forward to sharing. Sadly, after 2 years of doing this, my cup runneth under with clips. Unless I find more episodes (and I am always looking) I will probably finish posting clips sometime early next year. I also plan on posting more full episodes of American Bandstand (1963-1970) next year as well, so stay tuned for that!
Thank you for watching this year and for all of your comments and encouragement. Have a Merry Christmas, a Happy Holiday and a Happy New Year and see you in 2020!
