MACH LOOP 4 Hercules AMAZING! in BUTTER SMOOTH SLOW MOTION - In this video, I filmed an extraordinary day at the Mach Loop.

All this took place on Tuesday 21st May. I was there filming and photographing. I visit the Loop a couple of days every month but last Tuesday is a day I will never forget, better still, It's one I will cherish forever!

I was there on Monday. I was set up for the day by 07:30. The weather was very nice indeed. The temperature was just about right and the slight breeze fended off any attempt of being bitten by mozzies. Unfortunately, the day was a complete blank so I headed off to the car at 17:30 On my return to my lodgings I was told that we missed an Osprey flying through the Loop by just 20 minutes. Gutted!

Tuesday was going to be a very different day though! I had heard on the grape-vine that something special was going to happen that day. My source is usually very good so I was excited about the day ahead. Even I couldn't believe just how fantastic the day was going to pan out!

We followed 3 Hercules on radar and on the scanners. It looked like they were heading for us, surely not all 3 of them though? None of us could believe what we were seeing. Not only did all 3 enter the Loop but there was a fourth there too, WOW!

Better still, they passed through twice. As we were all viewing our Herc pictures and generally chatting excitedly, out of nowhere, 2 F-15's flew through too! Imagine how excited we were at that point. The fun wasn't over though... the 4 Hercs entered the Loop yet again and passed through another 2 times :)

Thirty minutes later a Hawk zipped through and an hour or so after that an Osprey flew passed us too.

A most enjoyable day was had by all.

WARNING - In the current climate and especially because the RAF aren't flying through the Loop at the moment this was definitely not a normal day. My point is this, Summer holidays are just around the corner and a lot of people head to the Mach Loop for a day or so. I just don't want my video to make you think that you too will experience the kind of day that I did, it's very likely you won't!

VIDEOING: I used a Canon 1DX MKII to shoot the 100FPS slow-mo shots. This is the first time I've used it to film outdoors. It's very difficult. It's extremely heavy and I couldn't see the aircraft on the live screen because it was so bright. I have since bought attachments to help me make better films. More to follow!
