How to Cancel/Retract Your Bid on eBay

To retract your bid on eBay, navigate to the "Retract Bid" page, typically found through the item listing or eBay's help section. Bid retraction is permitted under specific, limited circumstances: if you mistakenly entered the wrong amount (e.g., $100 instead of $10), if the seller substantially changed the item description after you bid, or if you cannot contact the seller. The timing of your retraction attempt is critical. If there are more than 12 hours remaining in the auction, successfully retracting your bid will remove all your bids placed on that particular item. Conversely, if fewer than 12 hours remain, you generally cannot retract your bid yourself; your sole recourse is to contact the seller directly and request they cancel it. Be aware that frequent bid retractions can result in restrictions on your buying account.
