Trump on Russia pipeline to Germany, Crimea, UK PM

(13 Jul 2018) US President Donald Trump on Friday said that a Russian pipeline project that would supply gas to Germany was a "tragedy".
"I think it's a horrific thing that's being done where you're feeding billions and billions of dollars from Germany primarily... into the coffers of Russia when we're trying to do something so that we have peace in the world," he said.
The president appeared to be referring to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline that would double the amount of gas Russia can send directly to Germany, skirting transit countries such as Ukraine.
He made similar criticisms at a NATO summit on Wednesday.
Trump is scheduled to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday.
Speaking after his talks with UK Prime Minister Theresa May, Trump said Russia would never have annexed Crimea if he had been president, saying Putin could only do so because Barack Obama was in office.
Trump also said that May was a "tough negotiator" and that he wouldn't want to be her "enemy".
