When living full time in a trailer RV like we do in our Winnebago 2108 DS FLX it's important to have enough towing capacity. That's why we have decided to upgrade from our 2004 Toyota Sequoia with a 6500 lb total towing capacity to a new(ER) 2013 Toyota Tundra with a just shy of 10,000 lb towing capacity.

Over the past year, we've been able to travel and tow our camper with a 2004 Toyota Sequoia. In doing so, I upgraded the Sequoia with a number of suspension enhancements. Some of these included new Old Man Emu rear medium duty springs. Inside these springs I installed the Air Lift 1500 Airbag suspension supports.

I also added Bilstein 5100 series shocks all the way around on all 4 wheels.

All of these made a big difference but the Sequoia still struggled on inclines. This caused me to feel a bit stressed about heading west and traversing up and down in the Rocky MOuntains for example.

So I started to look around and found a wonderful 1 owner Toyota Tundra. Ultimately the sale came to be and it worked out for us.
The Tundra we purchased boasts a 9900lb towing capacity, 3400lbs more than the Sequoia.

On top of all this, the Tundra, due to the Leer 180 series Truck Cap I found on Facebook Marketplace, we have significantly more storage capacity.

Combining this with the Sumo springs I've already installed to beef up the suspension, and well, we are in a great place to tow our camper more stress free.

When living full time on the road there are some things too important to cheap out on. At the top of the list to me is the tow vehicle we use. That's why I chose to upgrade to the Tundra. I think we will be in a much better place for towing long distances safely with it's upsized tow capacity of 9900lbs and a transmission built and engineered for towing.
