Windows USB Serial COM port driver bug

UPDATE: Windows 10 fixed this bug. Only Windows 8, 7, Vista & XP (and maybe older 2000 & NT) are affected.

From the comments section, it seems some Windows fans have taken offense to this video. But why? So much love of Windows that documenting a long-standing driver bug is offensive? Something worth denying? (cause that's always a productive way to improve software....) The fact is, this was a bug and Microsoft did indeed fix this problem in Windows 10.

This video was made (long ago) for Microsoft, to demonstrate how to reproduce the USB Serial (USBSER.SYS) surprise removal issue. The problem has been fixed in Windows 10. As far as I know, no updates or service packs have brought the fix to Windows 8 or 7 or any older versions.

At least a few people have told me they tried, without success, to copy USBSER.SYS from Windows 10 to Windows 7. Apparently there is no simple way to copy the fix to older Windows 7 systems.
