Surprising tip to help you stick with your 2024 fitness goals

As a regular person (not a competitive athlete), how do you stay consistent when you don’t have a competition to train for? How do you endlessly show up to the gym without losing motivation or plateauing?

The answer is twofold.

1) Have measurable goals you’re working towards, such as holding a 10-second handstand, doing 5 pull-ups, squatting a certain weight, running a certain distance, etc
2) Plan out your training blocks

Commit to working towards your measurable goals for a certain number of weeks (anywhere from 4-12 weeks depending on your experience level; I never go past 9 weeks), followed by a rest week where you’ll reassess your goals and plan your next training phase.

If you have times in the year when you know you won’t want to workout (during final exams, a vacation, or your family coming to visit), then choose that as your rest week and work backwards to define your training schedule.

This is just a tiny intro to the concept of Periodization.

Let me know if you have any other questions 😊
