Hand Carving a Cicada from rare exotic wood | Hand tools only

Wood carving a cicada pendant as part of a collection I made with the aim of raising awareness about the endangered wilderness of Bornean jungles. I personally picked the naturally fallen wood from the rainforest of Sarawak, carried it for months on my backpack until back to Europe.

The forests of Borneo are among the most biologically diverse habitats on Earth, but as in other tropical areas around the world, are being cut and degraded. Palm oil plantations, pulp plantations, illegal logging and forest fires are the key drivers of deforestation in Borneo.
