"Barndomshjemmet" is a well known song in Sweden and Norway and are recorded on several albums with both Norwegian and Swedish artists, and today it is a classic. The melody is by the American singer, songwriter, and comedic actor Paul Dresser and entitled "On the Banks of the Wabash, Far Away". The Norwegian lyrics was written by Magnus Brostrup Landstad in the early 1900s. Brostrup Landstad was the grandson of the famous hymn writer of the same name, and was born in Skjeberg (Norway) in 1876 and died in 1956. He wrote a lot of songs, poems and prologues.
