WOW! Watch this baby chick go to sleep while its injured leg is getting worked on
My friend Marci called me and asked if I would look at her chick. She thought the leg was broken. I was expecting to set a broken leg, or at the worst .. amputate a dying foot.
Actually what I discovered is worse than both of those expectations, the baby's leg is out of socket at the hip.
Marci "gave me ownership of the chick", so I could treat it. ( I cannot work on other peoples animals, since I am not a vet)
I rotated the hip as well as I could, applied DMSO in a coconut oil carrier to the hip socket and knee joint, pulled the foot up against the body .. and now we can only hope for the best..
I have seen this condition before I think it is different from splay leg as I believe it happens when they are in the wrong position in the egg and the leg will not stay in the socket. Then after they are hatched the joints tend to calcify similar to arthritis.
I am hoping the joints will respond to the DMSO and wrapping technique ... and because she is so young perhaps the joints will somewhat grow into place in the proper directions.
After I treated MY chicken .. I "Gave her" to Marci's daughter and suggested Marci give the chick boiled egg yolk with Tumeric for inflammation, and pain relief, as well as vitamin B super complex to help rebuild muscle tissue.
Prayers are always welcome ... we will check back with Marci in a week or so to see how this little one is doing.
Thank you for stopping by .. Please enjoy a copy of my newspaper as a thank you for visiting! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qT1UEB2wy8e6LZusUEAwrP1Ad-8XRXVv/view
