New Foal Meets Herd - May 14, 2020

With the arrival of our new foal Piper, we now have three horses. Today we decide to bring all three horses out into the main field and introduce Piper to Colby, our single gelding. They have met each other over fences many times already, often to Raven's consternation, so there is always uncertainty in how the initial face-to face meeting will go and we are very nervous that the foal may get injured if Raven and Colby get into it.

To top it off, Colby has been very wired up of late likely because he has been on his own for 3 or more weeks now. If he is left in his stall for any amount of time he calls maniacally and incessantly and has been really thrashing around, so we think it is time to bring all of them together to hopefully calm him down. We know this separation has been very hard on him when Raven has been his sole field partner for the last few years.

I wonder how it will all go?
