Czech Republic: Protesters decry COVID measures at Prague demo on 31 anniv. of Velvet Revolution

Protesters rallied against COVID-19 measures in Prague on Tuesday, on the anniversary of the 1989 Velvet Revolution that overthrew then-Czechoslovakia's Communist regime.

Protesters gathered in the Wenceslas Square in central Prague, holding Czech flags and banners, with some of them reading 'Traitors! Resign!' and chanting 'Freedom.'

The demonstrators were largely ignoring COVID-19 preventive measures such as social distancing and the use of face masks.

As of Tuesday, the Czech Republic has reported over 468,181 confirmed cases of the virus and 6,487 related deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
