SUMMIT REAR LOWER 2-POINT SUB-FRAME TO TIE BAR STRENGTHENING BRACE INSTALL! | FOCUS RS

I install the rear lower 2 point sub-frame to tie bar strengthening brace from SUMMIT!

Featuring a beautiful orange sparkle paint job, this tie bar brace makes the Ford Focus RS MK3 under body really pop and look so much different than stock while also being extra strong and rigid, this time not replacing any stock part but utilising existing fixing points to add a new brace that strengthens the rear sub frame, connecting the rear torsion bar fixing points together thus will aid cornering and reduce chassis flex and body roll for ultimate stability!

The rear lower 2 point sub-frame to tie bar strengthening brace from Summit for the Focus RS is made from 6061 forged aluminium with a special tubular inner design which means that it is not only super strong but also much lighter than any other such product on the market - improved performance without any weight adding drawbacks!

I show the process of how to install the rear lower 2 point sub-frame to tie bar strengthening brace into my Ford Focus RS in this video. The process is a simple concept, just 2 bolts to be removed and then reused to secure the new brace in place. The actual install requires a little more time an patience, however, as the bolts that are removed and re-used go through one side of the toe arm so just driving onto the race ramps and pulling the bolt out will not work unfortunately. Instead, the process that I employ is to have the front of the car on jack stands to unload the front wheels and then on the side that I am working on, to raise my jack up and rest it on the bottom of the toe arm. This has the effect of keeping the toe arm in the approximate position we need to remove the bolt straight as well as keeping it in the approximate straight alignment when putting the bolt back in.

It is not a perfect process and some movement is likely so be aware of this and be aware that alignment can be fine tuned by then manipulating the jack and indeed manipulating the bolt in the bushing of the toe arm itself, made possible by the fact that it is rubber. Also note that giving the bolt a tap in can help get it through the bushing and get it right up to the threads.

All that said, just persevere and it will line up eventually allowing you to turn the bolt on the threads and get it tight and then once both sides are in place, get it torqued to finish the install!

The part number for this brace setup is J-M3-12R and is when installed on the MK3 Focus RS in conjunction with the Airtec rear diff cooling plate and lower 2-point sub-frame chassis tie bar brace, it really looks amazing!

Since this area is right next to the ground, it will be subjected to the weather elements as well as dust, dirt, stones and general road grime so in order to protect that lovely sparkly orange paint finish, I ceramic coat the Summit brace with Carbon Collective Platinum Wheels. This is a high quality ceramic coating that provides a high level of hardness and durability while also being heat resistant and should provide good protection for a long time!
