RICAIP - Digital Twins for Distributed Collaborative Work in Shared Production

RICAIP is an international distributed research center of excellence that focuses on research in robotics and Artificial Intelligence. RICAIP is based on the strategic partnership of leading Czech and German research institutions, namely CIIRC CTU in Prague, CEITEC BUT in Brno,
as well as ZeMA and DFKI in Saarbrücken.

The video shows a scenario in multi-site and distributed manufacturing where a collaborative robot arm can be intuitively controlled from a distance in real-time by means of a Virtual Reality headset. This interaction is enabled using a Digital Twin of the production cell, which is fed by additional sensors to also reflect changes in the real environment.
