Unboxing! My Favorite Jelly Gouache got an Upgrade!
Remember that jelly gouache comparison I did last year? I compare the Miya, Mimi, and Artsy jelly gouache and while they all were similar the Artsy one was the one I like the most due to smooth coverage and high pacaity. Well, The folks who brought us the Artsy jelly gouache contacted me about their new set of Annigoni 56 color jelly gouache and it did not disappoint! It is just as smooth and opaque as their previous set of 24 hat is no longer sold and it is $14 cheaper than the MIYA 56 set, also the case is better and the cups are a smidgen larger. Win-win! https://amzn.to/3LcW3n6
Pros:
Good coverage
Nice color selection
Price
Excellent case/lid quality (all sides lock shut and the handles are sturdy)
Foam on the inside on the lid to keep paint moist
Cons:
Large footprint
You will need an additional mixing palette
The plastic seals are difficult to remove from the cups
Bottom line, all of the jelly cup paints are similar but I do find these to be more opaque and smooth so if you are looking for a large set I'd go with this one. If you already have a large set I don't think it is different enough to justify buying this but I do think the quality of the paint and case is better than the Miya.
Product reviewed: Artsy/Annigoni 56 set: https://amzn.to/3LcW3n6
The other sets were by MIYA and HIMI who are related and might be the same paint but the Miya seems to be a touch more opague than Himi: https://amzn.to/3MuwcHE
