Northwoods Big Bay, Beautiful Rustic Traditional Slipjoint Pocket Knife

Today we are going to take a look at the Northwoods Knives Big Bay in red burlap micarta. Northwoods knives are produced by Great Eastern Cutlery and are sold through Knives Ship Free. www.knivesshipfree.com

The Big bay is on the Great Eastern Cutlery (GEC) 78 American Jack frame. its a good sized slip joint at 6.5 in total with a 3 in. blade.

The overall aesthetics of the Northwoods Knives Big Bay has a really rustic feel to it. The red burlap micarta covers are really unique looking and offer a bit of grip from the rough surface. the weave pattern in the burlap micarta is great looking and no two knives will be the same.

The Clip point blade is made out of 1095 carbon steel and the coloration from the heat treat has been left on the flats to add to the rustic feel of this knife. The grinds are really well done and the tip is very nicely done. Northwoods Knives and Great Eastern Cutlery (GEC) did a great job with the design and execution of this traditional slipjoint knife!

The Handle being 3.5 in. is a good size and I get a full four finger grip. it has a slim profile and feels good in the hand. The Northwoods big bay feels great in the pocket and the addition of the leather Northwoods pocket slip really makes for an easy classic carry.

The Northwoods knife did not come in a tube like the Great Eastern Cutlery Knives do, but it did include a commemorative coin and the leather Northwoods Knives pocket slip.

The fit and finish is incredible on this Northwoods Big Bay and I cannot find any flaws in it. It has smooth transitions between covers and bolsters, no gapping, great spring termination and perfect centering. This is really a great example of the quality you can expect from Northwoods Knives as well as Great Eastern Cutlery (GEC) knives.
