The journalist who threw his shoes at President George W. Bush is asking for a pardon.
Muntadhar al-Zeidi (MOON'-tuh-dahr ahl-zay-EE'-dee) has become an overnight sensation for this incident.
He's still in Iraqi custody and while he hasn't been charged with anything yet he could get two years behind bars for insulting a foreign leader.
Now, al-Zeidi is asking the country's prime minister for a pardon.
According to a government spokesman the journalist wrote a letter stating he regrets his "big and ugly act."

However, others aren't as apologetic.
Dozens of people, some showing off shoes, demonstrated in front of the Iraqi embassy in Lebanon Thursday.
They're calling for him to be released immediately and add his shoes have proven to be stronger than any weapon in the fight against imperialism.
Washington is so far staying out of the legal wranglings, saying only that it's matter for the Iraqis to decide.
