He illustrates this with the example of a family unit. While the dad is at work and the kids are elsewhere, their individual algorithms feed them separate realities. When they finally come together at the family dinner table, each person believes their version of the story is the real, true story. This fundamental disagreement and lack of a shared reality, according to Braden, is what ultimately breaks the social bonds within the family and, by extension, society. He concludes by outlining the tactical steps of this process: "choose a target, freeze that target, you isolate it, you personalize it, and you polarize it," revealing a deliberate method of creating division.
