Mario Lanza Make Believe

Mario Lanzas voice, Fred Astaires and Ginger Rogers dancing, photos of Mario with Kathryn Grayson and appropriate paintings are combined to present an interpretation of the very beautiful love song, Make Believe. Jerome Kern wrote the music for this song, Oscar Hammerstein II the lyrics. Make Believe was originally created for their 1927 Broadway musical production of Show Boat.
This video features Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in a dance number from their first film together, "The Gay Divorcee", in 1934. In the film, they are actually dancing to Cole Porters song, Night and Day. The cadence of that song nicely fits that of this song Make Believe, so a substitution of songs was made here. The elegance of their dance adds to the timeless beauty of Mario Lanzas incredible, passionate vocal delivery.
