Ulcers and corns can develop on the top of the toe and the hammertoe can be fix with a quick fix or easy surgery not requiring a hospital or surgery center to fix the hammertoe. A tenotomy, which is cutting the tendon at the base of the toek and a capsulotomy, which is cutting the joint at the base of the toe will fix the hammertoe so the toe won't touch the top of the shoe but will not straighten the toe.
