It’s so interesting to think cold cases can be solved this way after so long, especially when the evidence is stored away for decades. Many of these cases were so long ago, police didn’t even know that collecting the DNA like they did would be used in the future with technology like this.

I like to think people who committed violent crimes back in the day were confident they got away with it, but are constantly nervous now, just waiting for police to show up one day after linking them to a crime scene from their relative's DNA.
