240 million calls come into the 911 emergency dispatch centers across the U.S. every year, with the dispatchers being the first line of responders. On busy days, they may get somewhere between 300-500 calls, and every single one has to be answered. Some 911 calls aren’t true emergencies, in fact 95% are “nothing calls”, some are even butt dials. But some 911 calls are real emergencies from desperate callers, pleading for first responders to arrive quickly and help the victim.
