Larry Jon Wilson : At The Bluebird Cafe

Larry Jon Wilson (1940-2010) would return to Nashville once in a while to do a show, usually at the Bluebird Cafe. He had a history in Nashville, one that didn't always agree with him, but when he came back it was to perform for friends and fans. His four Monument albums long out of print and no new recording in sight, hearing Larry Jon 'live' was the only way to hear him unless you were lucky enough to have one of the old vinyl albums. He never disappointed. The performance used in this video, from the Bluebird (year not certain, likely in the 1990s), is the medley he opened with on this particular Wednesday night. "Kindred Spirit" segues into "Sapelo", and from there Larry Jon launches into a driving number based on a traditional song, "Another Man Done Gone". Larry died on June 21st, 2010, not so long after releasing his solo cd, the eponymously titled, "Larry Jon Wilson". He is missed dearly by all who knew him and loved him.
