At least 12 people were injured after a tram derailed and crashed into a building in central Belgrade.

According to city transport operator GSP Beograd, the tram left its tracks at an intersection, crossed a sidewalk and slammed into the ground floor of a nearby building.

Ten passengers and two people inside the building were injured. Most suffered minor injuries, while two passengers reportedly sustained fractures.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the derailment.
