FFT Analyzers Part 4 - Averaging

This is part 4 in my video series - check it out here: http://tinyurl.com/FFTAnalyzersExplained

Now that we've covered some of the basics in Parts 1, 2, and 3, we can discuss different settings on an FFT analyzer (like Rational Acoustics' Smaart v8) that help us with system measurements. First up: Averaging. There are a lot of options to choose from when selecting an averaging mode, and it's important to understand what makes them different. Once we know the differences, we'll be able to make informed decisions about which averaging mode to choose when. Averaging has an impact on nearly every function in Smaart, including Spectrographs, Transfer Functions, and Impulse Responses. As the series continues, I'll explain how averaging benefits us, how it affects certain measurement types, and how we can use it to get better data.
Enjoy! -Sam
